A little bit about me...

Nell Shakespeare arrived in Ibiza in 2009, on the back of a quick decision to throw caution to the wind with her best mate and fellow vocalist, Gemima Gallier. We made our way over from Shropshire, UK to see what the paradise island had to offer, with little knowledge of the place.

The truth is... that snap decision wholeheartedly changed Nell's life.

On arrival to the island, few who have seen her on stage in the last 10 years, would struggle to believe she had a serious lack of direction and confidence in her voice. It took the beautiful and inspiring island inhabitant's guidance and support to take Nell through her first steps becoming the musician that she is today.

She got over her stage fright through many trials in a West End rock bar, Hogans, now the place just lives in our memory, but it gave her the first stage since before she could legally drink!

After a Summer of late night sessions with her best mate and the best of the West, Hogans offered her and Gemima the jobs of nightly singers for the 2010 season and she hasn't stopped performing since.

Forming a trio with Alex O'Brien, which developed into a full live band called The Rolling Soul, Nell was around 24 and really enjoying having a job that she had never dreamed could be possible! We worked hard to stay creative and inventive with our covers and it didn't go unnoticed earning prestigious bookings for private parties in some very swanky locations.

Nell had started teaching around this time and was getting amazing success with young and aspiring talent out of Morna International College, nurturing their skills and imagination. This soon developed into The Rock Chick Workshop, offering a full day of recording and a music video in one day for young kids! Needless to say, great memories were made and Nell is always on a mission to inspire the next generation.

As well as kids, she also worked to create The Ibiza Choir, teaching full harmonies of some of the most uplifting house classics to groups of up to 15 people.

Nell's style of teaching to both children and adults is instinctive, physical, fun, expressive and energetic. She teaches guitar, vocals, songwriting and confidence skills for the stage. She's self-taught on her instruments but has a National Diploma in Music Performance. Nell truly credits all her vocal heroes with being her greatest teachers, spending hours upon hours of listening and imitating singers like Aretha Franklin, Alanis Morrisette, Robert Plant & Alicia Keys.

In 2014, Nell moved to the bigger Balearic island of Mallorca and got to know the scene over there. She decided to move back to Ibiza and settle down real roots here and since has worked with many of the best of Ibiza's local musicians within the different projects she is a part of, as well as earning great success as a solo artist.

Nell has been releasing music with various producers since 2015 under the name Powder Monkeys with Dylan Debut and David Coker, as well as with New York Legend Todd Terry, and hot name in disco Birdee. She's had Traxsource number ones and earned Best Emerging Vocalist 2022 for Only Good Vibes Awards.

Nell now performs around 40 weddings a year in Ibiza, and internationally. Using her passion for music, island knowledge, attention to detail and undeniable charisma and talent on stage and behind the DJ decks, her business continues to grow each year.

In her spare time, Nell is a keen painter, poet and lover of nature and animals. She loves to travel and visit new places.

And in case you were wondering, she is a relation of William Shakespeare!
