International Women's Day with New Midnight Riot Compilation

I'm proud to announce that I'm featured alongside a long list of disco divas on the latest compilation release by London based label, Midnight Riot, "The Ladies of Midnight Riot".

My featured collaboration is with Pete Le Freq. I was very excited to work with him as I've been playing his edits for years! The song is "Lotta Love", originally written by one of my folk heroes Neil Young and featured on his album "Comes A Time" in 1978. It was then given its first turn of the disco ball with a version from Nicolette Larson in the same year.

Larson's own recollection was that the suggestion she record "Lotta Love" originated with Neil Young, with whom she had formed a personal relationship while backing him vocally on his album American Stars 'n Bars.

Nicolette Larson is quoted saying:

"I got that song off a tape I found lying on the floor of Neil's car. I popped it in the tape player and commented on what a great song it was. Neil said: 'You want it? It's yours.'"

My own story isn't quite as cool as that. But when Pete asked me, I was very happy to oblige!

Founded by Yam Who? in 2012, the Midnight Riot label has gone on to be one of the influential labels in the dance music world, releasing a celebration of positive vibes across genres like disco, house, boogie, afro and gospel.
